The Fjord Brewery Route features four breweries producing exquisite artisian beers and cider, as well as excellent local food, combined with stunning fjord, mountain an coastal scenery. The FJORDCard provides a convenient and well-priced way of travelling from one place to another, offering five days unlimited travel on the Bergen – Nordfjord and Bergen – Sogn express boats.
The breweries on the route are:
Ægir Bryggeri is a microbrewery in the beautiful Flåm district, at the head of the Sognefjord. Visit the Viking-style guildhall with its driftwood walls, dragon´s head and 9 metre-high fireplace extending from floor to ceiling. Ægir Bryggeri is one of Norway´s best-known microbreweries and has won many prizes for its beer.
Balder Brygg was started in June 2012. The production is based on local enthusiasm and developed from a more than 1000 years old west norwegian homebrewery tradition. Balder mainly brews lagers, an unique commitment for a microbrewery.
Located in the idyllic village of Balestrand in Sog, Ciderhuset is just a short walk from the quay and historic Kviknes Hotel. Apple cider, dessert wines and fruit shots ar made here, using fruits from the garden and a large portion of passion!
Kinn Bryggeri in the charming coastal city Florø was started in 2009 by home-brewer and beer enthusiast Espen Lothe, and produces a range of flavoursome beers in the English and Belgian style. The brewery´s motto translates as ”We do it the old-fashioned way”.
