One of the best ways to explore the coast is by kajak, and the Fjord Coast is Norway’s best kayak destination. Discover the magnificent untouched coastline with thousands of islands, islets and skerries, calm bays and white sandy beaches.
You cannot go further west in Norway than to the islands of Solund, Bulandet and Værlandet – often called ”Venice of the north”. With a myriad of small and large islands, islets and skerries sheltering you from the wind and waves this area is perfect for kayak paddling. The distance to the open sea is short, and many kayakers come during the autumn to surf the waves.
In Bremanger you can paddle along beautiful white beaches and steep mountains. Experience prehistoric petroglyphs, old trading posts, and a great wildlife. The archipelago around Florø is excellent for paddling. You can choose to visit one of the many islands around the town or paddle along one of the fjords.
Norway Adventures and Solund Natur offer guided kayak trips along the coast. Both offer tours that will amaze both beginners and advanced paddlers. Several cottages, houses and hotels offer kayak rental.
