It takes about 40 minutes to walk including the guiding at every stop. In 1907 the British Aluminium Company started the first aluminium factory in Northern Europe here in Stongfjorden. The factory created a well-functioning and prosperous industrial society. This resulted in electric streetlights as the first in the country, and from 1908 many houses in this area had electricity, 50 years before the rest of western Norway. Stongfjorden gained expertise in aluminium production, which was later needs elsewhere in Norway. People here could pay for themselves with money, something that was rare at that time. People came from all over to Stongfjorden to take part in the new era!
