If you are looking for an adventure vacation with a variation of activities and experiences, then Fjordkysten serves as a perfect starting point for creating great vacation memories!
With thousands of islands, islets, and skerries in beautiful untouched nature, the coast of “Sogn og Fjordane” gives you some of the best paddling experiences Norway has to offer. Norway Adventures, Norsk Kystkulturakademi, and Sjøbris Adventure offer guided kayaking trips. These tours provide an exciting experience for both beginners and experienced kayakers. Along with these tour operators, several accommodation companies also offer kayak rentals.
You cannot travel further west in Norway than Solund, Bulandet, and Værlandet - often referred to as the "Venice of Norway".
This area is perfect for kayaking with countless small and large islands, islets, and skerries. Although you are closed to the open ocean, the islands provide shelter from wind and waves. The area is also a popular place to surf during the Autumn.
In Måløy you can paddle along white beaches and steep mountains, and experience the old trading towns and rich wildlife. South of Måløy, the area around Florø offers shelter for the wind and excellent conditions for kayaking. Take a trip to one of the many islands around the city or along one of the fjords.

Blegja in Askvoll is often called the queen of the mountains in Sunnfjord. Blegja rises 1304 meters above sea level and is the highest mountain in the area. From Blegja, you can see all the way to Jostedalsbreen and the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen 100 km in the distance. A spectacular experience!
Visit the island Alden and hike up to the top, often called «the Norwegian horse». The mountain rises straight out of the ocean, 481 m above sea level. This is one of the most significant sailing marks on the western coast of Norway, and it is visible from more than 100 km away. From the top, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view!

"Majestic", "magical", and "challenging" are some of the adjectives used to describe Lihesten - the landmark and collective symbol for Hyllestad. Its role as an important landmark goes back to the Viking Age. Olav Kyrre sought shelter under the mountain and considered building a town by Lifjorden. There are several marked routes to the peak, over 714 metres above sea level, with views both straight out to the open sea and inwards over the fjords.

Pollatinden is the second-highest mountain in Solund and is referred to as the queen of the coastal area. No one knows whether its nickname stems from its location in the municipality that is the origin to the queen name, or because of the fact that Queen Sonja has hiked the mountain multiple times. The mountain rises 541 meters above sea level and offers fantastic views of the westernmost islands in Norway.

Hardbakke is located by the mountain Ravnenipa. The hiking trails on both the north and south side of the mountain are marked by cairns. On the top, you will see a great view on the western side, and this will show the entire municipal centre. There is also a marked hiking trail around Ravnenipa. The rock "conglomerate", which can be found all around the municipality, presents good possibilities for climbing.
Let yourself be seduced by the beautiful view from 613 metres above sea level. Veten is the highest peak in the old municipality Vågsøy, and together with Brurahornet, they provide the scenic backdrop to the town Måløy. The hike starts by the Maløy stadium. You can either park your car here or follow the road to the water supply system by Skramsvatnet. Enjoy the view of large parts of Vagsøy and the Stad ocean from the top.
Hannekammen, which is at 652 metres above sea level, offers a beautiful view of Vågsøy, the Stad ocean, along the Nord fjord, together with parts of the Bremanger region. Take the exit by the store on Deknepollen. Continue for 500 meters before you take a right. Follow this road to the end of the residential area, take a left and park along the road after about 100 metres. This will lead you to a gravelled path up a hill and a sign that points towards Hanekammen.

There are many possibilities for bike trips on Fjordkysten. Bring your bike to island hopping! The roads that connect the islands together does not have much traffic, and the surroundings create perfect conditions for biking. The ferries and boats that transport you from one island to another are experiences in themselves. The mainland also provides good conditions for bike trips, and you can also combine this with cultural experiences.
