Visiting local farms is a nice activity. What about a visit to the Norwegian Deer Centre at Svanøy? Here you will get really close to the animals!
There are many hiking trails along the Fjord Coast. The kids will love exploring new places either by foot or by bicycle.
Here is a selection of activities suitable for the whole family!
Visit Kalvåg, a vibrant fishing village in Bremanger. The whole family will enjoy the nice atmosphere in the village. Kalvåg is perfect for small adventures both on land and at sea. Are you tempted to fish your own dinner, or would you prefer to dine at the local restaurant? Here you can make your choice.
Grotlesanden is a beautiful, long, white sandy beach. This is the perfect place for the family to enjoy a summer day. In the winter the beach is perfect for storm watching or just playing in the sand.
Havhesten is an indoor waterpark in Florø. They have 3 pools, a slide, diving boards, a gym, sun, saunas and a cafe. The view form the pools is beautiful overlooking the fjords and mountains. 800 metres from Florø city centre.
The local beach in Florø is called Sørstrand folkepark. There is a sand volleyball field at the beach, and a barbeque area. There are good walking trails and is the beach is a good spot for kayaking.
The Coastal Museum in Florø offers local history and a beautiful recreational area. They have activities for children and you can visit he goats at the island Brendøya, right by the museum. In the oil exhibition you can try the evacuation room which is quite a thrill.
Svanøy is a lush island perfect for family adventures. At the island there is a nice beach, good hiking trails, bicycle rental, Svanøy Røykeri (smokehouse), Norwegian Deer Centre and historic Svanøy Mansion. We recommend a visit to Norwegian Deer Centre - it is an experience to get so close to the deers!
Kinn island has an intriguing history with its medieval church and historical trails around the island. There are exiting caves to explore. The cleft in the mountain is a famous sailing mark and a fascinating sight. At the island the Norwegian Track Association has a cabin where you can stay. The outdoor theatre Kinnaspelet is a wonderful experience that takes place every year on the third weekend of June. During the summer you can join guided tours to the island.
In Eikefjord you will find a nice beach with a diving board and kiosk. The petroglyphs of Ausevik is only 20 minutes by car from Eikefjord. A great experience not to be missed.
In Hyllestad you can visit the Millstone Park. In the summer you can join an historic walk where you can see and touch a history more then 1000 years old.
Both children and adults can learn more about fish at Skjerjehamn. They have an interactive display centre where you can learn about fish farming in Norway today. After a visit to the centre you can enjoy a nice dinner at the restaurant.
At Gulen Diveresort you can join in on the”Captain Crab and the Starfish” adventure. Both parents and children get an active and nice holiday. Whilst the parents are out paddling, diving or fishing, the children gets an experience out of the ordinary playing at the beach, catching crabs, fishing and more.
Take a trip to these island, far out at sea. Great to explore both by foot or bicycle. Visit the Norwegian Seabird Centre or join a White Tailed Eagled Safari, where you get a chance to see the mighty bird close by! Explore hiking trails, go fishing or play by the shore.
The thousands of islands in Solund invite to many adventures and family activities. How about learning the kids to paddle a kayak? Solund Natur offers both guided courses and kayak rental. There are many walking and hiking trails, and you do not need to go far to get a stunning view. Visit Norway’s westernmost lighthouse, Utvær. An idyllic place far out at sea. Visit the beautiful garden and enjoy the atmosphere. The Vikings used to stop at Utvær to sharpen their swords before going on their next expedition.
The local tourist offices can give you good and useful information.
