The Fjord Coast has a lot to offer in the winter – especially when it comes to weather. A weekend break or a holiday week along the Fjord Cast is perfect if you are looking for extraordinary nature experiences. Winter fishing, kayaking, coastal hiking, diving or storm watching is some of the activities you can do here in the winter.
If you like trekking or hiking, we have a lot of coastal trails and mountains you can visit throughout the year. Brandsøyåsen (286 masl) in Florø is a popular hike year around. From the top you can enjoy a stunning view of the fjords, mountains and islands that are surrounding the westernmost town in Norway!
We have a rich wildlife, and the white tailed eagle is easy to spot. If you visit Gulen Diveresort you can join in on a dive in crystal-clear waters and also attend an exiting Periphylla safari at night.
The Gulfstream affects the climate, thus our winters are fairly warm, even in the coldest periods our average temperatures are just a few degrees below zero. Sometimes we get a little snow, but it never lasts for long. Even though the weather can be rough in the winter, and it changes fascinatingly fast.
As a visitor you will fin open hotels, sea houses and cabins, and restaurants offering great food experiences. Did you know that seafood is at its best at winter? In Florø we have one of Norway’s best handicraft breweries, Kinn Brewery, that makes great tasteful beer.
After being outside it feels good to give yourself with warm baths, treatments or maybe a swim in the pool. We have several spas and indoor swimming pools open all year around in the region. At Carolas Buaspa in Kalvåg you can even enjoy an indoor sunny sandy beach. After being outdoors in the wind this is really soothing for both mind and soul.
