Take a twilight trip onboard the traditional sloop Bakkejekta over the beautiful waters of the Dalsfjord, every Tuesday in July. As we sail over the fjord, we tell stories of how life was on the banks of the fjord when the only means of access was by boat, in the golden era of the sloop.
We aslo tell you the story of Ingolfur Arnarson. He was from Rivedal and was the first person to settle on Iceland. The Icelandic government has erected a monument in Rivedal to the man who they believe founded their nation.
As a member of the crew onboard Bakkejekta, you can help out to the best of your abilities. You can choose between rowing, taking the helm, taking charge of the sails or just enjoying the trip. Along with the fascinating stories of the area, we also serve cured meats and flatbread.
